Since February 2026, our community has come together to crochet and knit individual squares which are joined into warm, comforting blankets for Helderberg Hospice patients. To date, 33,578 squares have been collected, producing 700 blankets. That is your contribution in those numbers!
On 17 July, Helderberg Hospice invites you to join as they celebrate Mandela Day and this achievement together.
Time: 09:30 – 12:00
Venue: Helderberg Hospice Hall and Garden, Somerset West (21 Old Stellenbosch Road, Helena Heights, Somerset West, 7130)
On the day, they will host a live square display, an official final count announcement, and a blanket gifting ceremony where completed blankets will be given to patients. You are warmly invited to spend 67 minutes crocheting or knitting squares, joining blankets, or simply witnessing the celebration of what they have achieved together.
