A Milestone for the Helderberg Society for the Aged
The Helderberg Society for the Aged (HSFA) has recently been awarded a 3-Star Rating by the Association of Palliative Care Providers (APCC), recognising their commitment to providing palliative care to people diagnosed with a life-threatening illness through their respite care, accommodation and services to older persons over 60.
For many families in Somerset West, the HSFA is a familiar and trusted part of the community. The organisation has been providing services to older members of our community with compassion, dignity and respect for many years. This latest achievement is a wonderful recognition of that ongoing commitment to quality care.
More Than Just Another Certificate
Behind the new accreditation comes months of hard work.
The HSFA team took part in a detailed review of the way they care for residents. The process looked at everything from the quality of care and teamwork to policies, systems and the overall experience of the people they support.
Rather than seeing it as a test, the team embraced it as an opportunity to learn, improve and make an already caring organisation even stronger.

A Team Effort
Achievements like this don’t happen because of one person. They reflect the daily work of care staff, kitchen staff, drivers, administrators, cleaners, volunteers and everyone else who helps make the HSFA such a special place. Together, they create an environment where older people are treated with kindness, respect and dignity, especially during some of life’s most challenging moments.
Always Looking to Improve
Although the HSFA is celebrating this milestone, they see it as just one step on an ongoing journey of learning and improvement. As a community, we’re incredibly fortunate to have organisations like the HSFA quietly caring for some of our most vulnerable neighbours. Their commitment to continually raising the standard of care is something worth celebrating.
Congratulations to the entire HSFA team on this well-deserved achievement. Here’s to many more milestones ahead.
